Re: Sandwiching 2 head gaskets to drop compression ? ALL

Thats funny... i'm going to be doing that to my car in the next 3 weeks or so (i hope, i need to get on it before school starts or i wont have the time to dick around with the car)

Yes, 2 head gaskets works.. in fact, when i talked to "the" volvo guy here in town, thats what he recomended. Now, from what i understand, the connecting rods in the cars are the same length (you're going to want the bigger rods, btw), but the diff in compression ratios is due to the dished pistons. 9.8:1 vs. 8.7:1 for a turbo motor. I personally would like a ratio of something like 9.3:1 or thereabouts, so i can turn the wick up to about 10 (with normal operating range at something nice like 4, manage it by having a mild and wild switch ;) ).

I've also toyed with the idea of shaving a little off the pistons.

To that end, i've procured a dead turbo car and stripped everything of use off of it (got a 4 speed tranny too), and i'm basically going to convert my car to a turbo car with a few extra goodies (found a donor saab turbo for an apc, good friend who does turbos for a living, real good friends with the local volvo guru, etc).

I can't vouch for the cam differences as i've never really had this engine appart, however there is a "T" on the back of the cam that came out of the other car. i'm not going to use it, and its in good shape if you're interested.....

I'll keep yall updated as this project goes forward, but i've gotta get the 760 going first so i'll have something to drive whilst building frankenstein
