Intermittent start-up problem. FIXED! 700 92

Been having intermittent problems starting the car for the past month. Sometimes it would crank and not start or at times it would not even crank.

Reading the faq's, I came upon a post about starting difficulties and oxidized(poor) electrical connectors. It recommended cleaning the connectors to all sensors, ie: rpm, O2, ECT, etc.

When I got to the rpm sensor to clean the connectors, I noted that the outer insulation crumbled to pieces when touched. It did so throughout the length of the cable.

I replaced the sensor ($25 on eBay OEM) and when I removed the old sensor, the inner insulation at the end of one of the inside wires was gone and was making contact with bare wire.

Needless to say, replacing this sensor solved my problem.

If you're having problems with startup on bricks '89 and on(with rpm sensors), check all those sensor connections and pay attention to the insulation on the rpm sensor.

Hope this helps someone!
