to glue or not to glue..+ windlace 120-130 67

If it's glued everywhere wouldn't that mean no movement? and thus no cracking? Or is just limited selective gluing allowing enough movement so that stress doesn't build up and crack? It fits excellently with no glue, except for a little bit of loft above the speedo/gauges and extending across the middle of the dash - which make me want to use contact cement across that section. Wonder if gluing at bottom and screws at metal window trim sucking it down would pull it tight in the middle. Don't like it with even a little loft.

Bought some windlace without plastic, and am not happy. I can sew, but the plastic seems to be cutting the thread. Anybody know a "reasonable" source for black windlace with plastic for 2 door?
