Value of a P1800. $16,000?! 1800

Hello, today I was driving around and I spotted a P1800 in the front yard of a house. I have no idea what year the car is but if there are differences between model years, I'll be able to pinpoint it. Anyway, it's a P1800 and it's the coupe (not the wagon which has a long rood). I saw the car over and it had; it was recked a little bit in the front passanger corner. It had rust (considerable amounts, but honestly workable). The exhaust was shot, so was the paint. The car last moved in 1993 (its inspection sticker is from 1992). The old man told me he had been offered $10,000 for the car. When I replied that if he ever wanted to sell it for $1000 or less he should contact me, he told me that I should shoot for $16,000 and over... HAS HE GONE INSANE?!?! What the hell was this dude thinking? No way. I thanked him politely for his help (hard thing to do when you have just been attempeted to get robbed) and left. I would like to know what's the value of this car. Anybody have an idea?

PS: As my friend replied, I think it would be better to wait for the old man to die then buy it at the auction for $100 bucks.... hehehehehe...

PSS: Don't give me moral crap because of that idea; I'm not the one trying to steal people in plain daylight.

Thanks for you help. =)
