Beefier tires & wheels for 140? 140-160 1970

I want to upgrade the tires/wheels on my 1970 144s. The stock size is 165, I'd like to go with a 185/70 or 185/60. Can the stock wheels handle a tire this size? It looks like there is a lot of extra spce in the wheel wells for a wider rim/tire, so I'm thinking about upgrading the wheels also. I want to keep it looking like the antique volvo that it is, can I get a wider wheel from another volvo like a P1800 or 122? Does anyone sell an aftermarket wheel that is wider then stock, but keeps the same or similar appearence? Thanks.
