Rebuilding a starter is simple but if the armature, for instance, requires a lathe trim with under cutting the insulation, you will have time and money involved over the price of the rebuilt. If you find that the armature has separated that will also exceed the cost of the rebuild.

I rebuilt my own for years but the time and trouble are no longer worth it. You may have an 'auto electric' shop near you. They would only deal with starters and alternators. That would be my only other choice.
