I bought a '89 240 for $1800 and knew I'd be in the garage for a while bringing it back to top shape. I have some I believe to be interrelated probs. The car won't start until the third try, almost consistently. If you open it up completely it boggs and there is a serious loss of performance. Performance is better within the first 2 minutes of driving (from cold) I accidentally (don't ask) unpugged the air control valve and the car runs better, idles worse. I do have a small exhaust leak at the head pipe, but no different than other 240s I have owned. It has new tune-up parts, and a new O2 sensor (when I got the car it got 10 mpg). I get O2 sensor, air mass meter, and injector fault errors from the Fuel Diagnostic. All the injectors are clicking away. The Fuel injector fuse holder was a problem as usual and has been replaced. I have no intake leaks that I can find. Can Anyone Help? Any advice, Ideas, or comments would be greatly appreciated. OH YEAH, also, maybe unrelated, whenever I do anything to the electral in system (unplug the coil, unplug the fuel injector fuse, etc.) most of the time the car runs like absolute crap for 5 or so minutes, then if you can keep it running at all for that amount of time...it smooths out, and everything is back to normal. goofy, but true.
Thanks, everybody.
