I struck up a conversation with a guy on the Alamo Shuttle at an airport last month who worked for a company that provided that service. He had just finished up a big job at a Toyota plant in Kentucky. They had had a huge hail storm that had done damage estimated at over a two million dollars (conventional bodywork) to new cars waiting for distribution at the factory. His company sent in over thirty technicians and repaired the damage for about half of the original estimate. He described the work as "spooning" the dents out. He had a background in a dealership's customer service rather than body work. His work requires that he have access to the convex side of the dent and that no serious "stretching" has occurred
(i.e. large dents or creases go to the conventional body shop). I asked about the "spooning" and he desribed tools with a working surface that was convex like the bottom side of a spoon and the dents were pushed out using that tool and a little finesse.
