Re: A high idle in "P" ONLY 200 1980

Look for vacuum leaks - they will cause high idle with lean running when in neutral/park, but when trans is engaged, the too-lean mixture will not keep engine running well under the load of the torque converter.

Check vacuum hoses, brake booster, intake manifold gaskets, carb throttle shafts, distributor vacuum advance mechanism, etc.
