Yes - the Volvos have only a switch in the drivers door. Until the 95 or so 900s. Starting about 89, Volvo changed the design of the power lock motors from the old geared unit to a more reliable solonoid type unit - much smaller and lighter and uses less power. For the later 900 models, they changed the drivers door to include a combined lock and motor assembly so that it was alarm and remote lock ready. IT is very easy to retrofit this unit in the 89- 700 series. Remove the anti theft microswitch from the new lock motor assy, remove the existing switch (they use the exact same casing). Now you will need to take the plug from the original switch and use it for the new lock motor. You will end up with a couple of extra wires that power the lock motor. Make a harness and run these wires through the door, through the grommets and into the car through the A pillar grommet. I put some black heat shrink on them where they pass between the door and frame and wire tie them to the existing electrical cable. You can either wire them into the main car harness, tapping into the wires from the rear door, or just let them be and hook them to the actuator leads from the alarm system. The alarm system will then actuate the driver door lock motor and that will operate the integrated switch and other doors will be actuated by the original relay system in the car.

This worked great for the Clifford Super Nova II system I recently had installed. Also had it set up so that I can close the sunroof with the remote -seems I am always turning off the car and getting out only to realize that I forgot to close the roof - its great to have a button to do it without having to turn the ignition back on.
