Re: Speedo worm gear 200 78

leo,

if they ask what color the gear is, they are talking about the plastic

gear inside the transmission. to get that out, you must remove a set screw

which holds a metal holder, which in turn holds the gear with plastic

(brightly colored gear, bright red or orange I suspect).

the head of the set screw point toward the back of the car or sometimes

there is a "Y" shaped washer that holds is down right where the angle drive

attaches to the transmission side.

let me know how it works out...if you are in the market for a speedo cable

go that route and eliminate the angle drive. (when the angle drives were available from volvo they were upward of 120 bucks)
