Re: Clutch Problems 1800 65

Hi John, check the spring in the master cylinder. its job is to return the piston fully back, but if its broken, the clutch itself will return the piston although it will fade. (Mine broke, I adjusted it about once every two days till the adjustment could no longer be made) As long as youve got it all apart, check the actuator rod. It shouldnt be bent. Ive never seen these bend in an 1800, but its worth a look (seen em bend in 544 and a select few 140s). My bets on the spring though; Id never heard of it until it happened to me, and Ive seen it twice since on friends cars. Good luck, Id like to know how it works out. Best, Matt B. 65 1800s, 71 142E, etc.
