No start revelation 200 1983

I was on Turbobricks and found something of interest. It says that if the rpm sensor on a K-Jetronic equipped Volvo isn't sending a signal i.e. if the engine isn't running, then the fuel system relay will shut off the fuel supply as a precaution.

Now, if the rpm sensor wasn't working or sending a signal, then a no start condition would be plaguing your car until the sensor was replaced, am I not correct?

My question is: Does the 1983 Volvo 240 with B23F engine with LH Jetronic and manual transmission have an rpm sensor-to fuel system relay safety system as well? Does it have an rpm sensor at all? If so, where is it?

I'd love to have the chance to rip off my rigged up manual switch which currently is wired up to force the connection where the fuel pump relay used to be. Right now if that switch (which is basically a jumper wire with a switch in the middle) is the only thing that keeps the car running. I never bothered to find out what the real problem was because rigging up that switch in place of the relay did the trick. If this is the solution that'd be the shiznittobansnipsnapzappa!
