Re:"Won't Start" Update 700 1987

Check the red wire to the distributor, it should have 12 volts on it when the ignition is on. Then the blue (?) wire should vary from 2 to 10 volts as the engine is turned over. If so the hall effect sensor is ok. Since you do not have old points there is an amplifier on the left wheel well. About 2 x 3 " with a plug on the bottom, It takes the weak signal from the distributor and ammplifies it enough to power the coil. I dont have schematics, I am in Colorado for a couple of weeks, but get a hayes manual and you can trace it down.
