Air Cond Problems 700 87

I have got the climate control air cond system on my 87 740T. At times the blower motor will just stop, then 10mins later it will start again. The Volvo dealer says it could be a faulty control module, which to replace is big $$$.

Does this diagnosis sound right?

If the control module is faulty, I was thinking of wiring up a seperate 12 volt power source to the blower motor so that on occasions when the blower stops I can just flick a switch and get the blower motor working again. (I assume the air cond compressor is not stopping when the blower motor stops - I havnt been able to confirm this yet)
