The best and most complete source for this information is a factory manual volume titled "New Car Features" that is model specific and comes out each year. It details all of the engineering as well as apearance changes.

Go see your local service manager and get him to let you peruse them in their service library - or you can order direct from the Volvo service literature source. There is one for each year for each model.
