EPROM in ECU 700 1991

Has anyone every had replaced, or replaced the

Eprom in the Electronic Control Unit. My recently

purchased 1991 740 2.3FI is running poorly at

startup in cold weather (this is its first winter

outdoors). I read that there is an EPROM

upgrade aimed specifically at this cool weather

problem.

Is it simply a matter of getting the EPROM and

plugging it in? Or does Volvo make you replace

the entire Control Unit??

If anyone has done this, does it help??
