Electric Cooling Fan Not Working 200 1992

I have a 1992, 245 that has been running swell. However, it has been hot lately and when I run the air conditioning in stop and go traffic, the temperature needle rises up near the redline. I know that my car has an electric cooling fan right behind the grill, but I don't think it is working. What can I do to check it? I've looked in my Bentley's manual, and it says that there is a wire connection by the lower radiator hose, but I can't find it. Any help is appreciated.
