shifting hard...and misc. questions 1800 70

I recently purchased a 1970 1800E. Im really enjoying the car and feel the 1000$ price tag was a real find. But,the problem.....when sitting and idleing the car is exstreamly hard to shift into any gear. Its not grinding or mashing, the stick just feels like its backed up agaist a brick wall. When driving it does shift better but I find myself tapping the gas to achieve the correct rpm so it will slip in. I dont mind that but I feel like its a symptom of a greater problem. I m hesatint to think its the clutch because the car only has 85,000 miles( i have good reason to believe that figure) any ideas?, suggestions?

also Ive been driving 245 wagons for three years now and I cant say enough good things about the B21f, but I know nothing of the b20E reputation, longevity, or the fuel inj. sys. any advice, thoughts, or known problems to watch out for would be a big help. thanx.
