The advantage is that you can still get them, the 122s dual master cyl has been NLA for at least a decade and are pretty much unobtainium at this point. The 140 dual master looks very similar to the 122's, so it would still look fairly original. The conversion looked pretty simple in the IPd catalog. One of those why didn't I think of that ideas.

However, in Tim's case I'd follow Bob Mayer's advice and check everything else to high heaven and make sure the master is dead before swaping it out. Its just that Tim's problem sure sounds like a master cyl problem. Even so, I'd take the master apart and make sure it was reassembled properly before giving up on it.
