Solved..making Don proud.... 200 1985Ti

Almost made me remember an outside temp. gage that I once owned.....inside joke.

Anyhow this may help others with slugish 240 door locks.

Took the door panel off and found all was clean and semi-lubed from my once over in the winter. Mech. once disconnected from the motor moved freely.

Motor when powered made a bit raspy sound with a pathetic amount of force. Hmmmm...removed the VERY tight case screws, took it apart, not gummy and the mechanism turned easily and the motor wurred nicely..hmmm. Cleaned, lubed and reasermbled, making sure screws are very tight. POS wouldn't even respond now. Hmmmm...loosen screws suddenly the thing goes in and out faster than a rabbit.

So bottom line, the case was clamping the gear in place, and I guess the heat made it swell a bit and make it bind. I put the screws in with a minimum force and locktite. Smeared some goo so it would be water proof. Closed the door up....lock works the best it ever has!!!!
