Re: Front windshield replacement 200 82

Bill--All 100/200 series (except 262) windshields are interchangeable except a design change point at (I think) 1979. I would strongly recommend handing this one off to a pro--I know because I supervise a body & glass shop. I have my own glass put in by our techs because I have seen the pitfalls. I would also recommend having the replacement glass glued in using a urethane adhesive. The original glass is held in with "butyl tape" which is gooey, prone to water leaks, and doesn't have much structural integrity. (Urethane is what holds glass in more modern cars, and will help hold you in should you crash.) Expect to spend about $100 for labor, adhesive kit, and a new set of clips to hold the molding on. Inspect any used glass you might buy for pitting, tiny cracks, and so on. Also--price used vs. new. You might be surprised at how small the difference in cost might turn out to be---shop around.
