Re: ANYONE need a K cam ALL

I am quite certain that you would not like a K grind cam in an automatic 740. Automatics need low end torque and you would be giving up lots. In fact, the stall speed of your torque converter would not put you remotely close to the torque peak of the motor once a K cam was installed. Further, you probably have a head mounted distributor and the K cam has no drive gear. So you would have to convert to a block mounted distributor. You may or may not have to change the intermediate shaft. And you probably have a 6000 rpm limiter, which would interrupt the fun of the K cam. Some cars have a 6500 rpm limiter, which would be OK. But your transmission would still upshift right in the middle of the fun, which would be a waste. The upshift rpm is not easily raised.
