As far as the asian women go, you'll have to find your own way there.
As far as cars go, there are a lot of long-time contributors who rarely steer you wrong. Don Foster, Evan R, Paul S, George Downs (although he's more into the older vehicles, pre '75)... Then there are a lot of more or less frequent contributors whose advise you take as information to be processed with other info. Make your first accessory a good workshop manual and start learning about the car by doing the easy work, gradually working towards the more difficult stuff.
Frankly, I think it's good that you're mostly paying your own way for the car. So did I, so did a lot of people I know, and I think it's made us more appreciative of what we have, and better mechanics because we had to do things on the cheap rather than just dropping the car off at the workshop with daddy's plastic on the passenger seat.
And on your last point, I'm sorry to say I'm nowhere near Kentucky. I'm in Leusden, in the Netherlands (as in Europe), a small city near the very center of the country. Basically you go about 50 km east from Amsterdam.
