240 Transmission died -- How Much $$$ 200 1991

My 1991 240 transmission gave up the ghost the other day. Had a tough time getting it into reverse, had it out on the highway doing 65 and it shifted into a lower gear and would not re-shift. Towed it home. Transmission fluid dark brown. Started it up- drove around the block and it shifts very erratically and the engine sounds like it is racing. Also, moves forward when in neutral. How much will a rebuilt transmission cost??? Might there be additional costs/parts involved? Doing a cost analysis to see if this is worth it. Car has 141,000 on it --- and everything on it worked before the transmission failed.
