Turbo gauge goes up to what? 700 1988

I am looking to put a boost controller in my brothers 760 turbo 88, I was wondering what the turbo gauge goes up to, I am not looking to kill the turbo or the car. I just want to put the boost up to like 10psi, and dont want to buy a boost gauge.
