Ventilation Fan Motor 700 1986

Tonight I replaced my fan motor. Over the past few weeks it had become a little noisey but some smoke came out of the vents. I thought it was the fan resistor pack so I repalced it. That did not fix my problem so I went to NAPA and picked up a replacement, 455-1076. It's a perfect fit for my car, as recommended in the 700/900 FAQ. I found I had to add some washers to the shaft because the fan itself sat too low. Once done it was smooth and quiet.

I looked at the old one and there were no drain holes in the lower case. I drilled some holes in the new one and I had my daughter hold the shop vac close to the work to catch any metal chips, obviously before I screwed the new one in place.

It cost about $20 and should last another 2 years or so.

Now, on to more pressing issues, such as oil leaks.
