sluggish 240 23 1984

ICQ>

Fellow Bricksters,

I bought my used 1984 240DL with the B23F engine in January. I have been,

bopping around town and thought the car was a bit sluggish, but then

it is a 113hp engine. Last week, I made a trip into the Texas hill

country and I discovered some interesting things.

One, the car can barely hit the speed limit of seventy miles an hour,

and this was going down hill. The A/C was off.

Two, EVERYONE passed me on the hills.

The car doesn't ping, doesn't over-heat and starts and runs OK. The

engine has some slight jerkiness from 2K to 3K and if you blip the

throttle it doesn't know whether to stall or rev. When I checked the

timing it hops around when the idle changes.

I replaced the vacuum hose to the ignition module, no better. Anything

else come to mind? Pre-fuel pump, packed up catalytic convertor?

TIA,

Randy
