Check for intake leaks by spraying around intake manifold and injectors with a water filled spray bottle. A leak, when sprayed with water, will cause roughness. Check all the intake plumbing for holes/damage. Fuel pump pressure and flow-clogged fuel or air filter. Output of oxygen sensor between 0 and 1 volt, hovering around .5 volts, when warm. Timing belt off a tooth? Check all plugs and ignition high tension wiring. Throttle switch adjustment and contacts at idle and full throttle. A good visual inspection of all vacuum hoses and wiring for damage. In short, check all the basics first, fuel, air, spark and compression. Just a quick list. Hope it helps. I had an 83-DL and while it was no rocket it was responsive and did well over 70 mph.
