New 240 SW owner - 4 Questions 200 1988

Just bought 1988 240 DL SW yesterday - this morning the temp gauge is dead, not moving at all...(it was working yesterday when I test drove the car). Are there any common temp gauge problems with this model ? I saw a lot of posts about the dashboard "regulator circuit" that needs to be cleaned, etc...but the gauge in thoses posts read high temperature or jumps all over the place....

What would you recommend to start with ? I ordered a Bentley manual, but will get it next week and want to "play" with the car this weekend.

Other trouble spots:

a) Dead clock

b) The blower fan runs in a "OFF" position. (same speed as position "1")

c) 1 small rip in the vinyl upholstery (somebody mentioned that it is possible to remove seat covers from the seats...any hints how to do this ?)

Any comments and/or suggestions on how to fix the above are appreciated!

BTW: I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this car !
