My steps are similar to the other response to this posting. Between the two you should do fine.
Pull the bottom hose off at the radiator end. Make sure your temperature setting got the heater is all the way to HOT. This opens up the heater core and the coolant that's in there can drain, flush, etc.
Run the water through the radiator with a garden hose.
Re-attach radiator hose and fill. Pull radiator hose and drain.
Use a flush/cleaner such as Prestone.
Follow the directions on the container.
After the flush is completed, rinsed, emptied,, fill radiator with the correct mix of anti-freeze and water. (It varies on where you live because of the temperature.) The general rule is no less that 50% anti-freeze and no more than 70%.
Start the car and check for leaks around the hose and any other parts you may have moved, loosened, etc.
It's not always easy to find "slow" leaks at this point because you'll probably have water all over.
I usually let the engine run to normal operating temperature (the spilled water will start to steam off)
Keep filling the radiator as needed. Usually after about 20 minutes of this I'm done.
Check the water level over the next few days as you drive around and keep an eye on your temperature gauge.
If everything runs fine... YOU DID IT!!!
