OVERHEATS ON 10 MIN DRIVE ! 700 1991

My 740 temp gauge goes in to red sometimes and then not at all on other drives. The radiator fluid is always disapearing yet there is never anything under the car. I took it to the volvo dealer and they replaced the O2 sensor and said that would fix it. It was fine for about a week and now its going in the red again. This seems to mostly happen when the car is idling. When you are moving the temp gauge goes down out of the red zone. Is this a bad hose ? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated !!
