engine dies, no tach, then restarts 740-760 1986

ICQ>

Today when returning from work on I-90, cruising along, the car died, and as I coasted in gear, it restarted after about 15 second. BUT, when dead, the tach read 0 rpms, even though I was coasting and in gear at over 50 mph. The car did this again after a few minutes, but only dead for 5 seconds and has been good so far. Kinda unnerves one, ya know?

So how do the two things (tach and engines running) relate?

What about the Hall sensor? Could this be momentarily at fault?

The coil is pretty new, and I just replaced the engine wiring harness about 2 weeks ago.

Anyone? Thanks,

Alex Hughes
