Sorry for leaving out the cooling method: non intercooled.

As for the ting, well it sounds like a metal fan rotating and hitting more metal, the faster the spin the louder the noise. I guess that could be considered a rapidly repeating ting. Interesting enough it has not done it today and I was in the yellow zone a few times while going to get an oil change, the filter was on so, so tight. Most of the time I drive it like the other 240, slow and steady, and try to stay in the white zone on the gauge. After the oil change i drove it back to Roger to descibe what had happened, however it did not make the noise. he said to bring it back when it was sounding.
