instrument panel removal. 200 80

I recently acquired a new(used) dash for my 1980 242 DL. So I'm trying to get the old one off but I'm having trouble getting the instrument panel out to unscrew the dash from the frame. Chilton's says to just tilt out after removing screws and speedo, but I was reluctant to force it. Is this correct? Also, any tips on a blower motor change for this car since I will have the whole dash off? I have the updated motor with the new resistor and instuctions, but as you may know, those instructions can be a bit vague. Thank you for any tips you can offer. Marty
