Re: A/C 134A Conversion 240-260 85

ICQ>11951484

Hi Andy,

I can't comment directly about the conversion for the 240s, but I have converted both of my 700-series cars using the Volvo retrofit kits, and it was a relatively easy process with them. With the 134a retrofits, the systems blow just as cold as they did with R12, too. In both cases, I had to replace the compressor, so because I opened the lines to the compressor, I replaced the o-rings with 134a compatible ones (not included in the kits -- get 'em from your Volvo dealer). Also, since I put on new compressors, I drained the oil from them and replaced it with the ester oil supplied in the Volvo retrofit kits, and then blew out all the oil I could from the A/C lines with compressed air. Then, I took the cars down to a local A/C guy, had him do a vacuum draw-down test, and recharge the systems.
