240 safety 200 '88

my wife and i have been talking on and off about the safety of my 240 ('88 240dl) and i don't think she believes me in all the safety these cars were built with. does anyone have a link that will show me the safety of these cars. also, am i remembering correctly?? i remember a commercial that showed a man getting into a volvo and driving it off of a 3 or 5 story garage and then getting out. i know i'm missing details......
