Crutchfield should be able to tell you the exact depth constraints for your 240. They carry nice speakers, however, if you want to buy a nice pair of 4" speakers just once and use them from Volvo to Volvo, I highly recommend a pair of 4" MBQuarts. They are by far the best car speaker you can buy. They will last forever. I have them (5.25") in my 745TGO (front and rear) and can't get them to distort, even with my Roickford Fosgate Amps. I promise you will love these speakers. They are even worth making any necessary door panel modifications to make them fit (I had to with my 745TGO). Good luck!
