now it's not shifting to fourth! 200 1987

I previously posted a message stating that my 240dl's automatic tranny had a delayed shift from third to fourth. Well, now the overdrive arrow has been lighting on and off by itself, and it will not shift to fourth gear! My guess is the solenoid is on the skids. I have made an appointment to have my tranny flushed though I don't know if this will produce favorable results. I would appreciate any further advice in regard to my Volvo saga!
