Cosmetic foglight issues 700 1988

OK, so my sister loaned me her 1988 Volvo 740 Turbo (currently at 147k miles) for

the summer while she's away in London. I've already made $350 USD in repairs to the

beast, and there's still one thing that's irking me to the max.

The foglights.

The pre-1990 700 and 900 series had a nasty tendency to lose their foglights and

the covers for the mounting points (the foglights were mounted on the front spoiler). The foglights were made my Bosch, and not as

effective as good Hella or PIAA lights today. However, the loss of the foglight and

mounting on one side disturbs my cosmetic sense to the extreme.

The foglights were originally installed as a factory option, and the one remaining

one I have does not operate. I'm not sure if it's the bulb, the connection, or the

switch.

So basically I have a foglight switch on my dash that does nothing. There's also

a toggle switch on there that controlled some previous aftermarket equipment installed

and later removed by the first owner (my sister is the third or fourth :O )

I found some replacement lights on eBay for $30-$40, the mounting bracket would be

another $10-$30. If I were to replace the nonfunctioning light with one of the new

lights, and then mount the second one in the empty primary fog light mounting point,

I'd still have that empty secondary bracket, or something looking this this:

So, I'd still have to fill that one mounting point on the front spoiler, and have it painted, in which case I could just as easily ditch the current foglight and fill in all the spoiler mounts:

But then I'd still have that useless switch on the dash.

Another option would be to remove the front spoiler altogether, but I'm not sure how that'd make the car look with such a relatively high bumper and nothing underneath it. I am also not familiar enough with the mass and aerodynamics of Volvos to know if it'd make a difference driving the car without a front spoiler.

So, what do you guys think I should do?
