Trunk latch detached? 120-130 1967

This morning I "attempted" to unlock the trunk on the Amazon. It had served me well all this time. But, this morning I turned the key and it made a little clunk noise, which apparently was the latch detaching itself from the locking mechanism.

My question, is there a "trick" to getting into the trunk without doing something drastic? (I haven't looked at it since this morning when it was still dark outside. Probably about the same time George Downs was having his third cup of joe.)

Once again, any help is greatly appreciated.
