overdrive failure 200 85

My overdrive is dead. Woh is I. Well im hopeing that it has something to do with the broken shift knob i now have (although it was out before the knob broke). Ipd told me i could even move the o.d button to the dash somewhere so i could replace shift knob with an aftermarket knob. Good idea? Also the rpm ("up arrow") light comes on now most always...could this be a sign of something more sinister?
