Ballast Resistor 200 1979

A couple times in the last two weeks my '79 245 has failed to start with it's usual eagerness. The first time I managed to jump and proceed along. The second, in New England's current 0 degree cold, I only got started solenoid clicking. From the 700 faq, first culprit was main wiring, battery's only 3 months old, connections clean, so I cleaned and remade grounds, to no avail. Thus in wonderful, pleasant weather, I changed the starter. After which it started up with the with it's usual eagerness, but died 100 yards into a check drive, started right back up, then did it again, then again.

Looking things over, I find my ballast resistor's a bright cherry red. Not a good sign and the dealers are closed and the same for the junk yards. I'm sure this is all telling me that the thing is dead, but I'll welcome any insight. The Pep Boys, etc. will be open on Sunday - could I get some generic resistor?

Thanks,

Dave F.
