Fuel Gage 700 1989

This is a 760 V-6 with a fuel gage problem. The fuel gage does not work and after replacing both, the sending unit in the tank and the fuel gage, still does not work. During cold weather, I noticed it works temporarily. When I installed the fuel gage, it did not work, but, I disconnected the sending unit from the main gage wire coming from the front of the car it worked for a little time. This is the three wire connection (white-gray, brown, and red) coming from the front of the car to the sending unit. There is a connector inside the trunk next to the antenna. Still after disconnecting and playing with it, no luck. Also, there is no current in any of the wires coming from the front of the car (I assume the fuel gage to the sending unit) no current at all. So, where is the problem? Big question. I will patiently wait to see if any of you had this problem before. Thanks to all. Sure hate to run out gas again, not a good thing.
