Overdrive reseal - Can't seperate OD unit 200 85

I'm in the process of installing new overdrive o-rings in a 85 240/with m-46 overdrive transmission. Both trans and OD are out of car and on bench. Losening the eight 11mm nuts as described in the 700 - 900 FAQ, I can not get OD unit to come apart. I've removed the output flange and speedo drive thinking maybe they where keeping unit from seperating. Haynes indicates to move to rear of unit and disassemble from the rear forward. I've been reluctant to try that not knowing what I might screw up!! If I follow the 700 FAQ correctly, I'm currently not trying to make the break at rear of transmission cast iron housing, but at the next joint back which has 8 - 11mm nuts in a roughly round pattern. They are the only 11 mm bolts on unit.

Any help is appreciated,

Happy New Years to all-
