preparations for long term parking? 200 1988

i may have to give in...

volvo reliability is good, but nothing over 100,000 miles is guarenteed...

fuel economy is unfitting for my trips to school...

ugly in its current state, and i feel bad looking at it...

the same money that is keeping the girl barely running could be saved for a more grandeous improvement, like showcar quality rebuild...

i may have to park it for up to 4 or 5 years untill i can afford to rebuild the thing the way i want it... my dilemma - its costing me hundreds of dollars to rebuild an automatic tranny, when i dont even like automatics, but i dont have quite the cash for a conversion, and if i did, im not sure about keeping the current engine anyway, so putting money into things like that is a true waste right now...

can i expect rust when i get it back? it will be indoors, mostly... my 88 has NO rust on it right now, understand... i play a little game where i look for rust on it, and so far i have no won a single game yet, hinges, under the trunk lid, nowhere...

what kind of preparations do i have to make to sit this baby out? can i leave gas in the tank? crack a window? disconnect the battery?

thanks for your help everyone
