automatic screech 200 1986

I do not recall reading any similar comments in the past year so I thought that I would ask. (I'll also check the archives)

I drove my wife's car tonight. It's an 86, 240, automatic transmission, with 186k miles.

As I started the car we heard a noise similar to the rattle of the heat shield at the exhaust manifold combined with a loud squeal and a shudder, in park and neutral. Nothing was apparently loose that I could see.

Drove home 1/2 mile, put it into park and squeal, rattle, shudder again. Turned it off and then back on with no noises. any thoughts??? suggestions???
