Re: Wasn't my intent to offend anyone...

Probably what he didn't realize was the "sneak factor" that a 5.0 gives a 240. It also can make them ride a little more comfortably, becasue the suspension is sort of hard for that size of engine.

However, I understand and appreciate his point. If you want to do the sneak factor(and people do have the opinion that all Volvos are slow, which isn't true), maybe do the mod. Otherwise, get the correct car for the purpose you want it. Go buy a 240 Turbo, and tweak it. You can easily get 200 hp. Or adjust a 164.

If you really want a dual carb muscle car, go buy one, though today most 4 cylinder turbo can be slightly tweaked to rqdically out perform them.

Or, for the same energy, you can still have a Volvo engine modified, like a b23, and get 352 hp.

Now THAT would be a REAL sneaky surprise to anyone wanting to race!

Yes, I happen to think that traditional Volvos are about the most all around car ever made. Sorry it became a status symbol, becuase it sort of changed the direction after a while. Yet for all the "purpose", Volvos were always easily made highly competitive.
