Advice needed for tranny fluid change 900 1995

Tranny fluid on wife's 1995 945T is starting to look a bit less red than it used to. Still smells OK (no burned smell). Had a BG power flush about 20K miles ago. Planning on getting the IPD hose and manually flushing tranny. I plan on switching to Mobil 1 ATF or Amsoil, whatever I can find locally.

Should I go ahead and drop the pan and change the filter/gasket while I am at it? I don't know if this has ever been done. My Volvo dealer mechanic friend says he can't recall the last time he changed a filter since the BG system came into use.

Any other "gotcha's" I should know about before getting started?
