Re: What is the difference between 230 and 230F Engine ALL

Hey Don

Thank you for taking the time to answer all those questions about the timing belt we spent the weekend working with. I really appreciate the technical descriptions. It is easier to learn and especially remember things when I understand some of the technical issues involved.

The question about the 230 designation comes from my attempt to read a volvo parts guide I bought over the internet. I paid 9.95 for it on ebay.

Unfortunately, I have had little luck in deciphering it. There seems to be no clear distinction between the models, the engines and the parts which apply to each. I am sure that it is functional to those more familar with the engine applications.

It seems to list for example the 200's 700's 900's all together and then says if any of these models have the 230F engine in them the following water pump ##### applies. (Here is where your explanation about the 230 family and the applicable water pump makes sense)

I know that the parts guide would be useful if it actually was as straight forward as the above example but somewhere it gets very confusing.

o well.

Our family has 7 volvos 1987-1993 6 of them being 240's and 740's with the B230F engine. Trying to understand the parts applications helps considerably.

Hey Don thanx
